ASF is setting the record straight and debunking the myths and misconceptions surrounding the Gold Coast Integrated Resort. Come on a journey of fact-finding and uncover the truth about this iconic global waterfront destination.

Myth 1: The GCIR will completely dominate The Spit.

Fact: The GCIR is located on a site less than 3% of The Spit, unlocking an unused piece of State owned land between Sea World and the Gold Coast Fishermen’s Co-Operative.

Myth 2: The GCIR will cause further traffic congestion around The Spit.

Fact: A Transport and Traffic Management Plan is provided as part of the project, developed by ASF and in consultation with the State Government, City of Gold Coast and The Department of Main Roads. Core infrastructure included within this plan will be funded by ASF.

Myth 3: The waterfront will become inaccessible to the general public.

Fact: The Broadwater will remain fully accessible to the community, with an abundance of additional public spaces and amenities included in the design.

The concept is designed to create the Gold Coast’s first true waterfront square as a local gathering space for the city. It will provide a newly accessibly water’s edge with a pedestrian boulevard, a new boating destination, the Gold Coast’s first waterfront piazza and 1,200-seat amphitheater and an area for water events and performances.

Myth 4: ASF Consortium does not have the financial capacity to deliver the GCIR.

Fact: ASF Consortium comprises of ASF Group and China State Construction Engineering Company — a Global Fortune 500 company with an annual profit in FY15 of nearly $10 billion and a market cap more than double Australia’s largest developers or contractors.

The Consortium will expand as it progresses through the final Request for Detailed Proposal phase and will include a globally renowned casino operator, and at least one other Cornerstone Entity. ASF Consortium has a proven track record of raising capital from its strong network of major resource, property, trading and strategic investment partners ranging from High Net Worth Individuals to State Owned Enterprises. It will deliver on its promise to the build the Gold Coast Integrated Resort; the largest and most exciting tourism project attraction on the Gold Coast in decades.
